In its annual ranking of the “Best Law Firms” in the United States, U.S. News & World Report has repeatedly named the Law Office of Edward J. Thomas as (i) one of California’s few “first-tier” law firms, (ii) the only “first-tier” law firm in Bakersfield in any area of practice, and (iii) the only “first-tier” family law firm in Central California. For client satisfaction, the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys has named the firm one of the top 10 family law firms in California.

Edward J. Thomas has been given virtually every honor and recognition a lawyer in his profession can receive. He was named one of the “Top 10 Family Law Attorneys in California” by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys. The National Association of Distinguished Counsel recognized him for being “a Member of the Nation’s Top One Percent” of family law lawyers. Both the American College of Family Trial Lawyers and the National Advocates include him on their respective lists of the top 100 family law trial lawyers in the United States.

Mr. Thomas was named the Family Law “Lawyer of the Year” for Los Angeles and its surrounding area by Best Lawyers in America, a lawyer ranking partner of U.S. News & World Report. The Southern California Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (“AAML”) named him the Southern California Family Law Person of the Year. Based on a vote of his peers, the Bakersfield Californian named him “Bakersfield’s Best Family Law Attorney.”

For over 30 years, Martindale-Hubbell, the oldest and most influential lawyer ranking service, has given Mr. Thomas its highest rating of AV for his exceptional legal abilities and his strict adherence to ethical standards. When the even more exclusive ranking of Pre-Eminent AV was created, Mr. Thomas was one of the first lawyers in the United States to be given that designation.
