More About Blankingship & Keith, P.C.

Since its founding in 1979, Blankingship & Keith's priority has been its clients. We strive to serve each client faithfully, expertly, and completely, whether that client is a large corporation, a small business, or an individual.

"We focus on providing excellent service—and results—for each client," John Keith notes. "The talent, creativity and good judgment of our lawyers give us depth and flexibility not found in many firms our size." This capability is critical.

Blankingship & Keith has 27 partners and 42 lawyers overall handling virtually every aspect of civil practice, including commercial litigation, personal injury, real estate, family law, education law, business law, trusts & estates, and tax.

Charlotte G. Alton’s practice focuses primarily on Family Law negotiations and litigation. Charlotte’s approach considers the sensitive needs of her clients while working to achieve the necessary solutions unique to the family.

Charlotte’s practice is to bring a steadying and calming influence to what is often a highly charged and emotional experience, allowing a thoughtful approach to complex issues. Conscious of the costs and uncertainties of litigation, Charlotte first discusses with her clients the potential success of reaching a resolution out of court before resorting to the courtroom. If litigation is unavoidable, Charlotte and her team have experience arguing matters in front of circuit courts and juvenile and domestic relations district courts throughout Northern Virginia.

When not practicing law, Charlotte is actively involved in the Northern Virginia legal community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Fairfax Bar Association Young Lawyer’s Section and as Blankingship & Keith’s pro bono coordinator for Legal Services of Northern Virginia. Charlotte is also a member of the Alexandria Bar Association, the Northern Virginia chapter of the Virginia Women Attorney’s Association, the Virginia Bar Association, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.

Prior to joining Blankingship & Keith, Charlotte served as law clerk for the Honorable John M. Tran of the 19th Judicial Circuit of Virginia. Charlotte earned her law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law where she was Lead Articles Editor for The Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice. She earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Tulane University.
